Just Listen - Sarah Dessen

Just Listen is the story of a girl who has everything: model looks, popularity, close family and good grades. Well, apparently. In reality, she is the exact opposite; lonely with no friends because her ex-best friend is spreading rumours about her, her family near shatters as her sister suffers from an eating disorder, tired of always being nice and living a lie and facing a long summer ahead. But then there's a guy - who's not really your typical Romeo - who won't leave her alone and determined to let her see the truth of herself and admit it.
This is the first book I've read by Sarah Dessen and it's quite impressive. She captures perfectly the patently idyllic girl and turns it all around from her perception. It brings YA fiction to a whole new level as it deals with real-life issues like the difficulties with family relationships, friendship and finding your own voice in the world.
I'd reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys a good YA novel.
